Studies show that sleep plays a crucial role in overall health, and the problem is that many people are simply not getting enough. Depending on your personal needs, you may find that you need slightly less or more sleep than the recommended average. However, it’s important that you find a good balance and not go to extremes on either end because it can wear out your immune system very fast and lead to you being more vulnerable to viruses during the winter.

uh oh winter's coming

Even if you don’t have a particular health concern, it’s always a good idea to speak to your doctor about taking preventative measures during winter – especially if you’re more at risk. Scheduling regular checkups can help you stay on top of things before they take full grip of you.

Many people will avoid this and stock up on meds because they don’t have health insurance, but this is taking a big risk that could end up costing more later, so take a look around at your options, or even ask your doctor if you qualify for medicare enrollment.

Uh oh, winter’s coming..and although you might want to drink. more. nope ..Reduce Alcohol Consumption:

uh oh winter's coming

Especially during winter, alcohol consumption is on the rise, with lots of festivities and Christmas parties, but just like you would at any other time, it’s important not to go overboard. Alcohol not only leaves you to feel bad the next day, has been shown to have a negative impact on mental health, but can also weaken your immune system and leave you with more than a hangover.

UH OH WINTERS’s coming. I am not going to move…nope gotta stay Stay Active:

Ahh winter is the time we so see as our hibernation period. But in reality we might not want to go outside. But there is still so much we could do inside. yes?

uh oh winter's coming

Again, this is something you should be doing all year round, and although it’s not exactly appealing to go outside in the winter when it’s cold and miserable, even a 20-minute walk each day will be enough to get your heart rate up to a good level, give you energy and even lift your mood.

Staying active has a knock-on effect, because it lifts your appetite and helps you sleep better, so you’ll be achieving a multitude of immune-boosting effects just by ensuring you move around each day.

Oh and do think about upping your meditation practice this winter. Its a perfect time to get your body and mind into a habit of doing meditation.
