Rejuvenate, isn’t that a great word?
restore (a river or stream) to a condition characteristic of a younger landscape.
The sense of rejuvenation is ages old. We all need that minute of time and space where we re-gather our strength and spirit. So when we realize we are needing that sense of revitalizing and rejuvenating, what do we do?
We all work hard so that we can support our family, and when you’re stuck in a routine of the same work day in day out, it can become monotonous – quickly.
It’s not uncommon to wake up one day and feel very low about your current work situation. Maybe you’ve got an awkward client, or your boss is really on your back about a deadline that you’re trying so hard to complete.
This is completely normal, but there are some things that you could be doing at home so that you can rejuvenate and return to work with more motivation. Take a look at these tips on how you can relax and treat yourself when you really need it.
Do a detox to Rejuvenate
Sometimes you might be feeling worked up and run down because of the way you’ve been eating lately. It’s understandable that after a long day at work you don’t want to be slaving over the stove for hours.
However, it’s important to make sure that you’re eating a balanced diet so that your mental performance can get back to it’s usual state. Give your body a full on detox so that you can reset any upset in your body and flush out all nasty toxins that have built up.

Book some annual leave
Work can become too much if you’ve been working full on for a long period of time. You may have picked up extra shifts for a bit of extra cash or to cover if you’re short staffed. Give yourself a well deserved break and book some annual leave as soon as possible.
Use your time away from work to work on your physical and mental health. Whether this means an adventure away or simply a week or so at home relaxing is completely up to you!
For true rejuvenation, my go to is meditation. When I give myself this space, I can literally feel all of my body relaxing and soothing itself. There are so many ways to meditate. I hope that you try a few of these.
Meditation in motion. Anything we do can be meditation in motion. Check out how its done and its benefits.
Candle gazing. This is literally holding your gaze while watching a burning candle.
Breath work, with this one, it is really being so focused on our breath. Our breath is our life. Without it we would not be around.
Knowing that we have this abundance of breath allows us to fully oxygenate our blood and recharge all parts of our bodies. One simple way to begin with breath work, is just to take three breaths. Be aware slowly of how each breath feels. After the 3 breaths what do you notice?
Did you notice that your body is relaxing? And that you feel so much lighter? And what ever was causing some concern is no longer there? That is the beauty of breath work.
If you do this several times a day, and especially when you feel yourself getting stressed, you will be amazed at how much calmer and easier your day goes.
Have a night out to really recharge and rejuvenate
When you’re busy working loads it’s not uncommon to lose contact with your friends, and they do say that laughter is the best medicine.
Group your friends together and have a night out so that you can let your hair down and have a giggle with your friends. Sometimes all you need is a chance to have a good moan about what’s stressing you out and it can sort your mind out!
Plus, wouldn’t it be good to have a night on the town?

Do some Gardening
Last, but certainly not least, when you’re feeling stressed out why not head to the garden and do a spot of gardening? Now that summer is on it’s way, it’s the perfect excuse to get out in the garden and do some home improvements.
Also, gardening is well known for the ability to take your mind off what’s troubling you! Another bonus? You can do the garden up ready for the long summer afternoons spent sunbathing!
Ahh gardening, isn’t that just the best way to truly respect life? And to see the beauty that is all around us? Yeah. That to me is really living and loving ourselves.
To rejuvenate our lives means that we are willing to stop for a moment. There is no longer that need to multi-task or run around for hours. When we do stop, how do we choose to fill ourselves back up?
There are indeed so many answers to this question as it matters what works for you. From meditation to a holiday to just taking an hour break. All ways to force ourselves to stop and truly smell the roses is how we get to a place of reconnecting and rejuvenation.
Sometimes we need a bit more help, medically or spiritually. There are great resources for both.It is so vital though that when we realize we need this time. That we take it. And use it well. For it is our health that is paramount to our living and loving our life, yes?
What works for you when you are in need of rejuvenation?
