PAIN PREVENTION AND RELIEF, WHAT TO DO?
(this is a contributed post)
I think the hardest thing about living with pain is that it clouds our thinking. We become immersed in it. So it becomes a bit tedious to figure out what the next steps are. But how about thinking we can do some pain prevention and relief for our bodies before we become to entrenched in the pain?
You often hear doctors talking about the fact that prevention is better than cure. If you’ve ever been in pain before, you’ll know that this old adage rings true.
It’s not always possible to avoid scenarios that result in pain, but there are things you can do and lifestyle changes you can make to try and keep pain at bay for as long as possible.
Condition your body for pain prevention and relief
Most people take an interest in their health when they have an injury, but have you thought about ways you could reduce your risk of injury? Conditioning your body is all about strengthening your muscles, increasing flexibility and suppleness and maximizing your chances of escaping unscathed if you do trip or fall or you don’t quite cool down properly after a workout.
There are lots of ways you can look after your body, and one of the best ways is to exercise on a regular basis. Activities like yoga and Pilates and remedies such as physical therapy can help you to keep your body in check and lower the risk of injury and pain.

Heed health and safety warnings
Be honest. How often do you walk past health and safety notices without giving them a second glance? We don’t tend to enjoy talking about health and safety, but it is crucial to our wellbeing.
Whether you’re at work or you’re out doing a grocery shop, heeding warnings can help you to steer clear of danger and subsequently avoid pain. If you ignore advisory notices, or you fail to use safety equipment at work, for example, it’s worth bearing in mind that you wouldn’t be able to file a compensation claim.
If, on the other hand, you were injured as a result of somebody else’s negligence, you could consider pursuing legal action. See this for more information. If you have any concerns about safety or work or you notice hazards in a public place, talk to your employer or the manager of the facility or business so that any issues can be reported and addressed quickly.
Perfect your posture for pain prevention and relief. Our posture is a big part of this!
More than 30 million Americans suffer from back pain. Poor posture is a common contributor. If you’re prone to bouts of back pain, consider whether your posture is perfect.
If you tend to slouch when you walk, or you lean forwards when you’re typing, there is definitely room for improvement. Sit up straight and relax your shoulders. Adjust your work environment to increase comfort, and invest in living room furniture and a mattress that provide support for your spine.
When it comes to pain, prevention is always better than cure. You can’t avoid every fall, accident or sports injury, but there are things you can do try and reduce the risk of suffering.
If you are in pain, don’t struggle in silence. Often, failing to treat pain can exacerbate symptoms, and it may contribute to long-lasting damage. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice if pain has become part and parcel of everyday life.
