In a time where mental health issues are rampant and suicide is epidemic, please know you matter! Often we have been told that asking for help is a sign of weakness. Really? It takes so much courage to ask for help. So use your courage and speak up and out and ask and get all the help you need. Please!
We don’t like the fact that people assume that anyone with a mental health disorder should be moping around wishing the day away. They couldn’t be more wrong as to what mental health is. Yes, some people can’t hide it, but there are so many disorders aside from depression.
That’s what we think half the problem is at the minute. People believe depression is the one and only mental health issue they should be aware of, when it’s so much more extensive than that.
So, to all of you who are suffering with a mental health disorder, common or not, you’re never alone with it, and we’ve got some ways of showing you how true this is. Have a read on to find out more.
You’re Not In The Dark
Ok, so the first thing that we want to make known is that a lot of people actually feel as though they’re left in the dark in terms of their mental health disorder. The doctor will refer therapy that could take months for the first appointment to come through, it can really feel as though you’re being left in the dark.
Never feel like this. While we don’t agree with waiting times for appointments, we do know that mental health services are under an immense amount of pressure. So getting appointments can be lengthy.
So don’t feel as though nobody cares, see it as though people are trying desperately hard to get you help. You also shouldn’t feel as though you’re in the dark socially.
The world is now so much more accepting of mental health, and you’re not different to the people around you. You’re still a human being, and people will love you all the same. Never shy away from social situations because of the disorder you’re suffering with,or use it as an escape.
