It is so true that when we do not attend to our bodies and our health, we are in fact not taking care of our responsibility and self. The question is are we ready to step into not ignoring, but rather tending to? If so then we will also live in greater inner peace.

Jack Canfield, in his book, The Success Principles talks about the power of completing our incomplete tasks in order to free up the headspace required to focus on creating prosperity and abundance; an example he offers is that of fixing a dripping tap – it isn’t urgent but it’s always there, distracting your focus, and niggling away at the back your mind each time you see it… all it would take is twenty minutes to fix, yet we put it off, and it continues to distract us each day.
Similarly, with our health, there are many niggling aches, pains and conditions that we know need to be tended to… such as needing a filling, yet rather than book into the dentist and get it sorted we put it on the back burner and what could have been a simple filling spirals into needing emergency root canal treatment.
Now the New Year is upon us, there’s no better time to clear up your incompletes – as this will help create a sense of inner peace – and one particular focus should be your health. This article details five common health check-ups you should consider in order to keep on top of your health.
The majority of people today, particularly given the intensive use of computers, televisions, and mobile devices we all use require a little help to correct their sight; as we age the health of our eyes can begin to deteriorate so it’s good to have a check-up, not just for glasses, but to confirm your holistic optical health and rule out conditions such as glaucoma.
The good news is hearing evaluations are one of the less invasive tests required, yet so many of us begin to lose the edge of our ability to hear others, which leads to severe and totally unavoidable communication issues. The ability to communicate is so important, and if you are struggling with your hearing, then it’s a good idea to get a quick test – as it’ll be over in a jiffy and could save a lot of embarrassment down the line. The other thing to note is that some hearing aids are now totally hidden within the ear itself.
Many of us fear visiting the dentist and often put off making a visit until we are in such pain that we require emergency dentistry such as a temporary filling or root canal treatment. The fear of a dentist is a reasonable fear, as a nobody likes the invasive feeling of having fingers crammed into one’s mouth or sharp implements prodded around their gums – but it’s much better to keep your oral health in check, and as with most things, prevention is way better than cure.
High or low blood pressure can lead to serious problems so it’s a good idea to know where your blood pressure level is, in order to make any necessary adjustments and keep yourself in tip top shape.
Given the processed diets we often find ourselves living on, out of convenience, a lot of us suffer with high levels of cholesterol where the arteries begin to clog up, become furry, and eventually harden. This is a major cause of heart disease, and if you do have high cholesterol, it’s something that should be addressed by a change in diet, sooner rather than later. You can even order self-testing kits to measure your own cholesterol levels online.
Now that we know we can easily take care of our health, I do hope we make that choice. I wish you great health and joy always.
