Be as healthy as you can be, how often have we heard that! And yet how seriously do we take it? We do only have one body. And for most of us we are not always cognizant of listening to it. Do you listen to your body?
Are we really being as healthy as we can be?
At least I can say for myself I am not always listening.. I have this very strong willed sense that I can override my body. So even when I was teaching myself how to walk again, I willed the pain away and the muscles that would not work.
But when I hit a wall, I wondered if it did not feel as loved as it needed.
So then I started talking to my body. Telling it what an awesome amazing thing it was to have this vehicle.
When I did that, things went much smoother. I was not longer working against my physical being. In fact quite the opposite. I was loving it. And everything relaxed and cooperated. I even starting asking it what it needed. And if I listened intently, I got an answer.
That was a great learing curve for me. Because I was used to pushing my own physicalness way beyond my own tiredness. You know this parents out there! Motherhood, single motherhood working long hours and still finding more energy to be there for my kids.
But even now that I am walking so well, there are times that I know asking my body to push further does help get past the discomfort. But only when I am in concert with this beautiful vehicle.
This is a contributed post.
WHAT DOES IMPACT OUR ABILITY TO BE AS HEALTHY AS WE CAN BE?
Your body is something that is keeping you living, breathing and enjoying life. The way that you treat it has an immediate effect on the way that it reacts to stress and hardship.
The whole point of your body is to keep you alive, and the healthier that you behave, the better your body can work to achieve this.
No one wants to contract illnesses and even the healthiest people can contract illness, but that’s not a reason to stop living the healthy life that you want to live!
The very reason that we get sick is due to lack of care and attention in 90% of illness cases, so it makes a lot of sense to want to spend time putting your body through less stress by keeping it healthy.
It’s not just about registering with the local doctor and knowing where to go for urgent care, that’s just good sense. It’s about what you nourish your body with and how active you are.
With these four steps, you can keep your body as healthy as possible, allowing you to live better, stronger and longer without a huge effort.
It stands to reason that whatever you put into your body will be used as fuel. Would you put the cleanest fuel into your car or would you put in contaminated oil?
The likely scenario is that you’ve spent a lot of money on your car, so you want to give it the best gas possible. It’s the same with your body. If you are constantly fueling with junk food and high sugars, you’re going to crash and burn.
Fuel your body with organic fruits and vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats and protein and you will find that your body burns the fuel you give it appropriately for the right energy.
WE ARE WHAT WE EAT
For me, you have heard me say this before. I truly believe we are what we eat. So if we choose to add foods that are healtlhy, whole foods, organic and vibrant, that is how our bodies will feel too.
On the other hand we have been sold a billl of goods by the food industrial complex that processed highly salted and sugary food tastes good.
Here is a thought. When is the last time you had something just picked straight out of a garden? Now that is truly delicious.
Drink Well to be as Healthy as We Can Be
There’s a lot to be said for a coffee in the morning, but the best drink that you could possibly give your body is water.
We are mostly made of water, and our brains require us to drink a minimum of two litres of water per day to stay adequately hydrated and ready for anything.
You should carry around one of these bottles if you struggle to remember to hydrate with just plain water; if you need a little change of taste, add freshly cut fruit.
Your heart is a muscle and to keep it healthy, you need to workout often enough to get the heart pumping. Your body is a machine that needs to be kept moving to keep stamina and fitness levels up.
You can’t just stay sluggish and unfit as your body will fail faster this way. keep up with a workout regime and you won’t be disappointed with how your body responds.
My go to is always a walk. Whenever I need to change thoughts or positions, I head out for a walk . It raises my endorphins, gives my body a chance to work out kinks and I get fresh air. On top of which since I am a renewed walker, it is always a walk of gratitude.

Sleep Well to be as healthy as we can be
Lastly, the one thing we all need is rest. We need adequate sleep to recharge our batteries and feel healthier on the inside every day. keeping your wits about you comes from the right rest – sleep tight!
I don’t know about you, but if i don’t get into my sleep schedule I know the next day might be tougher. Have you had that? So do keep your sleep schedule.
SUMMARY OF BE AS HEALTHY AS YOU CAN BE
We have this amazing vehicle that we call our body. For some of us we ignore it, for others we listen very intently. Where ever you are on the scale there are certain things that must always be forefront. Sleep, exercise, food.
And those are choices we make to determine not only what makes us feel better, but always what can make us feel not so great.
How do you decide what is best for your body?
